Friday 6th June saw #TeamPCE proudly host its fourth annual charity golf day, a highlight on our calendar.
This year’s event took place at Halesworth Golf Club and much like our Three Peaks Challenge, was dedicated to raising funds for Suffolk Lowland Search & Rescue (SULSAR) in memory of Sarah Cook. The event also doubled up as a celebration of Dave Cullen’s retirement with a fitting way to honour his contributions in a great day out among colleagues and friends.

FORE A CAUSE
PCE’s annual Golf Day is one of the highlights of our year—a perfect blend of friendly competition and meaningful community support.
This year, we are proud to dedicate the event to raising funds for Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue (SULSAR) in memory of Sarah Cook. Alongside Mountain Rescue, Cave Rescue, the RNLI and Volunteer Coastguard, they form the backbone of specialist help for the emergency services when anyone is in need of assistance.
Lowland Rescue teams specialise in finding missing people using foot-teams and dog-teams, often over large areas of wilderness and without knowing where the person is to begin with. Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue is a 100% voluntary specialist search team which helps the emergency services find missing vulnerable adults and children.
The PCE community’s energy and kindness have shone through yet again and we are excited to share that we raised £2,800, thanks to everyone’s participation and donations.

FAREWELL ON THE FAIRWAY
It was not only a wonderful occasion to raise funds for a meaningful cause, but also a heartfelt celebration of Dave Cullen and his remarkable career. Friends, colleagues and well-wishers came together to honor his contributions and bid him a fond farewell as he embarks on a new chapter—one that likely includes plenty of time on the golf course.
“After 34 fantastic years at PCE Automation, I have decided to call it a day and take early retirement. I’m really proud of all the machines we’ve built and the many things the company has achieved over the years. I can honestly say there has never been a dull moment.
I would like to thank James and all the family for giving me the opportunity and taking me with them on the PCE journey. When I started, there were only 12 of us down the boatyard, and now there are over 200 employees across 4 sites in the UK and Ireland. That’s a great achievement and I’m sure you will continue the growth.
I also want to thank all the wonderful people I’ve worked with over the years, colleagues, customers and suppliers. Too many to mention by name but I would just like to say it’s been a pleasure working with you all and I wish you all the very best for the future.”
Dave Cullen

As we wrap up, this event served as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together for a shared purpose. It was a day filled with connection, joy and lasting memories – all in support of a meaningful cause. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make it possible, from the organisers to the attendees and the generous supporters.
We’re excited for what’s ahead next year and look forward to many more days like this in the future.
