Three Peaks Challenge: Climbing for a Cause

#TeamPCE recently took on the difficult Three Peaks Challenge attempting to summit, Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike in under 24 hours!

We took on the Three Peaks Challenge in loving memory of Sarah Cook. Climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales in such a short space of time was not only an incredible test of teamwork, it was also a deeply personal journey for all of us, driven by the desire to honour Sarah’s memory in a meaningful way.

We chose to dedicate this challenge to Suffolk Lowland Search & Rescue (SULSAR), a cause close to our hearts and one that continues to make a vital difference in our local community. It’s the same charity we supported through our recent, Annual Charity Golf Day and this shared focus has brought us even closer together as a team.

THE  CHALLENGE

The National Three Peaks Challenge is one of the UK’s most demanding endurance feats and includes climbing:

Ben Nevis in Scotland – 1,345 metres (4,411 feet)

Scafell Pike in England – 978 metres (3,209 feet)

Snowdon in Wales – 1,085 metres (3,560 feet)

In total, the journey covers around 42 kilometres (26 miles) of hiking, nearly 3,000 metres (9,800 feet) of elevation gain, and close to 10 hours of driving between peaks. It demands not only exceptional physical stamina but also mental determination to keep going through all the blisters, heavy fog and lack of sleep!

The team completed the challenge in an impressive 22 hours and 52 minutes, well within the 24-hour target. It was amazing to see everyone come together for a common goal.

FUNDRAISING SUCCESS

The fundraising efforts surrounding the challenge quickly gained momentum and demonstrated the incredible generosity and community spirit of those connected to PCE Automation and beyond.

Through our GoFundMe campaign, we raised over £14,000, far exceeding our original target.

Every single pound raised is making a real difference to the work of Suffolk Lowland Search & Rescue (SULSAR). The majority of the money went towards the purchase of a cutting-edge Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) which works alongside SONAR equipment that the charity has recently purchased.  The ROV allows the team to identify missing people in bodies of water much quicker, bringing much needed answers to families and friends.  All whilst reducing risk for the search team.

The charity will be sharing more information on their Facebook page on the equipment, how it works and its place within their capabilities in the coming weeks.

THANK YOU

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the challenge, whether through donations, encouragement or sharing the campaign. Your generosity and belief in the cause have made this endeavour possible and impactful.
